This movie has no head nor tail, we're more or less plunged into the horror of a nice family who is suddenly terrorized by unknowns for no apparent reason and we never get any explanation. In the first 20 minutes we meet the family and are served all kinds of innuendos of complicated background stories no dad, daughter with an unwanted pregnancy, another daughter sexually harassed , with which nothing whatsoever is done, so they might as well not have bothered.
Then the attack begins, by the way very well introduced with a hair-raising scene of the daughter communicating through a closed door with one of the assailants. But when everyone is caught and bound to chairs the whole thing collapses into an overlong part of gruesome and very intense abuse, torture and killing.
And then it's the next morning, another daughter finds them dead and snap: the end. After just some 70 minutes of film we are forced to read an endless commentary on how the culprits were never trialled or even found out. Who did the production-team think to please with such a unsatisfying movie? Okay, maybe a few gore and torture aficionados, but genuine horror fans like me are just baffled and actually a bit offended for not being taken seriously.
Based on real events. Good for a streaming on a boring Weekend. I have rated so far many films but I never gave 1 to any So, killers are entering a house and mother and daughter do not know how to fight back? Mother has a bat lying on the floor but she is looking for something else??? She knocked down one killer and she is stepping over him and goes into the corridor without taking off his mask to see who is he?????????????!!!!!!!!
Is this even real? Wouldn't that be the 1st thing to do if someone masked enters your house and is lying unconscious on the floor?????? Daughter is being tortured by killers and mother is The interview led by the cop or whatever Was that a joke? Was that a big joke? The other daughter is entering the house with eyes closed?????!!!!!! Only to see her mother and brother killed on the floor with a friend and she does what next????!!!!
Enters more into the house? And the song at the end of the film. Really, this film - based on true story - does have an intriguing story but everything about it is BAD BAD beyond bad! My rating is ZERO! How did this garbage even get made? The dialogue is just stupid and the mother and daughter were so over the top stupid you just wanted them dead.
I know the family members of the real life people this was based on had to have sued the producers for this steaming pile of nonsense. I willing to bet anyone to get pass the first 35 minutes without cringing. KoolCatReviews 24 January Somehow this movie lacks any real charm. It's quite honestly just bland and terriable.
I often like indie horror movies but there's nothing here for even hardcore fans. The movie is just not inspired. It's not scary, thrilling or funny. It's honestly just cringy. Some reviewers are trashing "the story". They're missing the fact these events are TRUE. In fact; this movie is far more on point than most films that claim they are based on a true story. The acting especially the wide variation in accents is not the best.
This case received renewed attention in Unfortunately; the two main suspects are long dead. Cabin 28, is based on a real criminal case, often called ''Keddie Murders'' which happen the late evening of April 11, , where a mother, her daughter age 17, her son age, and another daughter age 12, were brutally murdered in their cabin in Keddie, California.
The movie tries to stay true to the original story and it does it pretty well for some time. Like so many truestory movies it's very hard to keep it completely true but Cabin 29, does it pretty well.
Just so puzzled how these horrendous movies get funded. The acting was so bad. Only two actors pulled thier weight - Bo and Marty This film looks like something a teenage makes with a home camera, and family or neighbors as actors.
The people involved with this story didn't sound like hicks. You've insulted their memory. Next, if insulting their memory was not bad enough, this is the world's slowest moving film. Where did they get the idea that a lunatic wore a clown mask? And a white-faced fair haired child mask from The Village of The Damned?
It wasn't until the late 's to mid 's when masks like that made it to your local Hot Topic. Next, the "slasher scenes" were absolutely absurd. The atmosphere and set design did not look anything like the cabin, the actors do not represent the actual victims and the actual backstory of what really went on that week and that night was completely ABSENT.
They seemed to have taken a story, changed it up and created a slow moving pointless plot-less I don't know what this mess is. While some films are low budget they can be excellent hidden gems this is just downright bad. If you want to know what actually happened at Keddie, just do some basic research and watch some actual interviews. This was just Luckily the movie was only about 70 min.
How does this movie qualify as a horror movie? I'm a huge fan of the genre and have watched more than enough bombs before but this one takes it to a completely new level! The acting was atrocious, the home invasion was laughable and there was absolutely nothing that struck terror or fear in the viewer.
When I saw the poster for this film, I thought it looks like the strangers. I had high Hope's, but as soon as it started playing I realised it was a low budget film because of the sound quality. It had like an echoey quality, tinny. Anyway, from the word go, the acting is wooden. The accents are terrible and only get worse. The driver is cringey, most of the men in the film are. It's mostly British and Welsh people providing southern american drawl, not good.
The mum is the most wooden, and shes dressed as if shes just left the 60s and entered the 70s but this is supposed to be The cabin is modern, too modern for 80s. Nothing builds the right vibe or scene. The violence is strange because they hit each other with weapons, but you clearly see the weapons dont strike their target, and no sound is made.
The quiet is odd. The film says is based on truth, fine ok, but then you see a mum with like 5 kids, and then at the end the writing says about a women and 3 kids, one wasnt hers and it just doesn't gel. Why have the end bit?? I pretty much will watch any horror just to try, but this one was boring sorry IndieZeus 22 August Based on true events that inspired the American Horror flick 'The Strangers'. Naturally there's similarities although this film was clearly made on a fraction of the budget 'the strangers' was made on.
Not a bad effort, scenes have varying results, some decent tension in a few. Worth a look if you're interested in micro budget horror. No matter how low budget a film, the simple things being missed will make a movie even worse. While there was one scene that could have been truly terrifying, they screwed it up with music and incredibly poor acting.
The continued hesitancy during what was supposed to be scary scenes meant none of it worked. Everything about it was so bad that I don't know what actually made it so lame.
I couldn't figure out whether the script made the actors bad or the bad acting piled onto the poor script, but after a while I just realized it was both.
There is no entertainment value to be found in cabin 28, so I strongly recommend it be skipped. This movie is by far one of the worst movies I have ever seen. You have British actors trying to act American yet many times throughout the movie you can hear your British accent come through.
The acting also is extremely low grade these people are ones that should not even be qualified or be called actors. It's really sad that they took such a tragic story and made it into a very low budget poorly acted movie. I read all the bad reviews here and almost didn't watch this movie. But this story has interested me since I first watched The Strangers, so I was intrigued to see someone else's vision. I actually liked this movie. Sure the acting wasn't top notch, but lots of low budget horror movies have the same issue.

Everything about this movie was just plain awful. The acting, the writing, I struggled to make it to the end. I had some hope for this movie based on the events that inspired the movie, it could have been something great, but it wasn't. Do yourself a favor and never watch this movie. Details Edit.
